PURE COMFORT WITH FIREPLACE AND STOVE – CHIMNEY FANS ALSO MAKE LIGHTING UP THE FIRE EASY
Fireplaces and stoves help generate a delightful atmosphere in the winter. However, fires can be difficult to light up and may generate more dust, smoke in the room and the scent of “campfire” in your clothes.
System solutions from EXHAUSTO CDT ensure the correct chimney draught from the very start. This makes lighting up the fire a lot easier.
The chimney fan draws smoke and dust in the correct direction, i.e. out of the room. At the same time, the system contributes to improved fuel economy. Moreover, it provides you with extra security and comfort as it can let you know when it is time to restoke the fire, and trigger an alarm in the event of a risk of a chimney fire (Download brochures RS, RSV Fans)
Light the fire easily
Guarantees easy and simple fire lighting, irrespective of location, weather conditions and the relationship between the chimney dimensions and the stove or fireplace.
No smoke or smell
With the correct draft in your chimney, you can be sure that your room will remain free from smoke when lighting or restoking the fire – and while the fire is burning. This means that neither your house nor your clothes will smell of smoke or “camp fire”.
Good combustion, better heating economy
Continuous optimal updraft and optimal oxygen feed means optimal burn regardless of weather conditions. With the right type of fuel, perfect combustion can mean that you save up to 15 per cent on fuel.
Healthier indoor climate with less soot and dust
When all the particles are drawn out of the house via the chimney, the result is a much healthier indoor climate. You can set your chimney fan to draw strongly when the stove door is opened. This will result in dust and particles being drawn up through the chimney instead of being emitted into your living room. At the same time, it cuts down on cleaning and keeps your walls free of soot.
Extra ventilation
As an added bonus, the chimney fan can be used as extra ventilation in hot weather when there is no fire or stove alight.

An EXHAUSTO CDT chimney fan system consists of a chimney fan connected to a manual or automatic control so the chimney draught can be adjusted according to need.
The chimney fan itself is an electrically powered ventilator. Its is mounted on top of the chimney. When it is activated it draws the smoke up through the chimney. The chimney fans can tolerate constant temperatures as high as 250ºC. The motor is vibration free so the chimney fan operates very quietly.
With the control unit which is positioned in the vicinity of the fireplace it is possible to regulate the speed of the fan and thus the draught in the chimney. There are different types of control units to choose from.
The chimney fan should be cleaned at least once a year. The chimney fans can be opened easily, enabling a chimney sweep to sweep the chimney and clean the chimney fan without any problems. This is done by opening the fan and scraping the axial vanes and chimney opening clear of soot. Before doing this the power must be switched off via the insulation switch.
There are different models of chimney fans to choose from. If the chimney top is above the ridge height of the roof, both the RS and RSV type models can be used. RSV models are recommended for use in windy areas. If the chimney top is lower than the height of the roof ridge, or if the building has a thatched roof we also recommend the RSV chimney fan due to the vertical discharge. Both models are available in various sizes to suit any size of fireplace or woodburning stove

Two types of chimney fans are available for solid fuel: RS and RSV
RS:

A round chimney fan with horizontal discharge – i.e. the smoke is discharged to the side. Can be used if the chimney is above the ridge of the roof.
RSV:

A square chimney fan with vertical discharge – i.e. the smoke is discharged straight into the air. Recommended for when the chimney is below the ridge of the roof, in windy areas close to the coast, and for houses with thatched roofs.

Control systems for chimney fans
Chimney fans for solid fuel can be controlled using a variety of regulators and control systems:
EFC16

Manual control unit for solid fuel appliances requiring installation by a service technician. Provides smooth and easy speed regulation of the chimney fan.
EFC18

Automatic control using a temperature sensor and requiring installation by a service technician. Allows you to start/stop the chimney fan dependent on the smoke temperature in the chimney.
EFC35

Manual control unit for RSV16, RSV315 or RSV400. Requires installation by a service technician. Provides smooth and easy speed regulation of the chimney fan.
EW40

Wireless control via a separate and attractive control panel.

Chimney fan accessories
Flange: A flange is required for fitting a chimney fan to a steel chimney.
Isolation switch: Legislation requires that an isolation switch is installed in close proximity to the chimney fan so that the power to the chimney fan can be cut if required.
All kinds of accessories are available for chimney fans, including isolation switches, temperature sensors, vibration dampers, flanges and Dilution bolts.
These accessories are often optional, as they are not always required.
Flange FR
A flange is always required for installation on steel chimneys. The flange reduces vibrations and creates a stable surface for the chimney fan.
Isolation switch
It is legally required to fit an isolation switch in the immediate vicinity of the chimney fan so that, for example, chimney sweeps can disconnect the current to the chimney fan. The switch required depends on the chimney fan control system. Two models are available:
2-pole REP-AFB for
EFC15, EFC16, EFC35, EFC21 and EFC25

4-pole REPSW2x16 for
EFC18 and EBC20

Dilution bolts
Four dilution bolts can be fitted subsequently, if it proves necessary to stabilise the chimney fan even further.
EFC-Box
If the control system is to be fitted in a location where there is no available power outlet, an EFC-Box can be used for wall mounting an EFC21 or EFC25. The cables can then be run through the bottom of the EFC-Box and led along the wall.
ES12
Relay box for the EBC20. Used in multiple boiler installations, where more than two boilers are connected to the same chimney. The relay box makes it possible to add up to four extra boilers. Multiple ES12 relay boxes can be connected simultaneously.
Frequency converter
The frequency converter is used together with the EBC20 to regulate the speed of the three-phase chimney fans RSV400-4-2 and RSV450-4-2. The frequency converter ensures the correct voltage and frequency for the two chimney fan models mentioned.
PDS-box
Safety pressure switch for individual boilers. The PDS-box is an extra monitoring unit that can be linked to the EBC20 for additional safety.
